At Green Wise Energy, we offer heat pump technical assessments to determine if your home qualifies for a SEAI Heat Pump Grant. This initiative was introduced in 2018 for residential properties built before 2011 to encourage households to transition to greener and more affordable energy solutions.
Our heat pump technical assessments are conducted by one of our qualified SEAI registered technical advisor team members who will determine the heat loss indicator (HLI) for your property. It must meet a specified threshold for your property to qualify for a heat pump grant. If your property has a low level of heat loss, you will likely qualify for the grant. The technical advisor’s survey will be compared to the HLI threshold.
You’ll also receive a report detailing ways to improve your property’s HLI level and its Building Energy Rating (BER) to reduce energy bills and optimise usage.
You’ll need to have a Technical Assessment carried out of your property to determine if you qualify for the SEAI heat pump grant. It must be carried out by an independent assessor not connected to a heat pump installation company to ensure a non-biased survey result.
Once the technical advisor has finished their survey, you’ll receive a detailed report on your property’s energy performance. If your property is not suitable for a heat pump, you’ll receive a list of recommended upgrades you can undertake to allow you to install a heat pump in the future. There may be other available grants you can use to carry out these upgrades.
You won’t need a second assessment after your upgrades, but you will need a BER Certificate after your heat pump is installed.
Before the SEAI assessors visit your property, you’ll want to gather any documents you can use as evidence of previous energy upgrades you’ve made to your home. It’ll give your technical advisor a clearer picture of your property to ensure a more accurate survey report.
Put together copies of any certificates you have relating to any heating systems, insulation, and renewable energy upgrades you’ve made to the property. If you don’t have any documentation, your technical advisor will have to use default values, which may result in a less accurate heat pump technical assessment.
